李文，经济学博士，中国社会科学院当代中国研究所社会史研究室主任、研究员、博士生导师。主要从事当代中国经济史和社会史等研究。著有《实用不动产管理要则》《中国土地制度的昨天、今天和明天》等。Li Wen， with a PhD in economics， is the director， research fellow， and doctoral supervisor at the Social History Research Office of the Institute of Contemporary China， Chinese Academy of Social Sciences， and is mainly engaged in the research of contemporary China’s economic and social history. In the 20th century， two historic events in China have affected the entire world. One is the founding of the People’s Republic of China under a socialist system， which fundamentally changed the political landscape in East Asia and the world. The other is China’s reform and opening-up， upon which a socialist market economy has been built， enabling its economy to enjoy sustained rapid development and fundamentally rebuilding the economy of East Asia and the globe. And all these were achieved under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. In 2018， we grandly celebrated the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up. In 2019， we joyfully celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of new China. In 2021， we commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China. No doubt， the founding of new China and China’s reform and opening-up are of historical significance in achieving the great “Chinese Dream”—realization of national rejuvenation， national prosperity and people’s well-being. Just as the speech of President Xi Jinping at a grand gathering to celebrate the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up in Beijing， the founding of new China successfully realized the most profound and greatest social reform in Chinese history and prepared the fundamental political prerequisite and system base for all the development of contemporary China; and the reform and opening-up greatly changed the look of China， Chinese nation， Chinese people and the Party， and Chinese nation welcomed a great leap from standing up， getting rich to becoming powerful. In the 21st century， China has maintained its development momentum from the previous two decades. It has actively dealt with profound changes in the international situation while maintaining fast development at home and overcoming all sorts of risks， hardship and challenges to achieve an historic economic leap. It has made a series of new historic achievements to offer a solid basis for building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way and starting the new journey toward a modernized country. China’s GDP jumped from the world’s 6th place in 2003 to the 2nd in 2010. Social productivity， economic strength and scientific and technological strength have made a big step forward. In the meantime， living standards， income levels and social security have undergone unprecedented progress. What’s more， comprehensive national strength， international competitiveness and international influence have increased dramatically. China is displaying a new historic look. Meanwhile， especially in recent years， China’s development faces increasingly sharp contradictions and problems: economic structure is displaying deep-rooted problems， such as economic development severely restricted by resources and environment and mounting downward pressure; international situation is complicated， severe and full of uncertainties with the rise of unilateralism and protectionism; and unbalanced economic and social development， intense and frequent explosions of interest disputes and social contradictions as well as other challenges in social governance. At present， China enters a new development stage.
